Cingular spends USD1.8m a day in LA

The largest US cellular operator AT&T/Cingular Wireless has revealed that its total spending in the greater Los Angeles area has amounted to USD1.3 billion over the last two years. The firm says it has invested around USD1.8 million a day on network upgrades and expansions in LA since 2005, adding an average of five new cell sites every week. Cingular says it spent USD13.5 billion nationally over the past two years. The firm, which is wholly owned by AT&T Inc, had just over 61 million subscribers at the end of 2006.
